CRITICAL: When you open a case file that was created in CaseMap 7.5 or older with CaseMap 8.5, you will be prompted to convert the case to the new CaseMap 8.5 format. Once a case file is converted, people using earlier versions of CaseMap will not be able to open the file. Therefore, please install CaseMap 8.5 for all CaseMap users working on a given case file before opening the file using CaseMap 8.5.

CaseMap 8 and CaseMap 8.5 are compatible. CaseMap 8 and CaseMap 8.5 files have the same file extension of .cm8. You can open a CaseMap 8.5 file using CaseMap 8 and vice versa.

Please note that installing CaseMap 8.5 will also replace any current installation of the Send to CaseMap Plug-in for Acrobat with a new version. The new version does not work with CaseMap 7.5 or earlier. As such, please Do Not install CaseMap 8.5 until you are ready to cease using versions of CaseMap 7.5 or prior.

Activation: The CaseMap 8.5 Upgrade installs as a full-featured version with a 30-day timer. Every CaseMap feature is available to you during this 30-day period. At some point during the 30 days, please activate your installation in order to turn off the timer. Activating allows us to validate the fact you have purchased an upgrade or are on a subscription plan.

If you install CaseMap 8.5 on a machine that has an earlier version of CaseMap on it, CaseMap 8.5 will find your registration information and pre-fill the activation form. You can then activate your copy online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  If you are installing CaseMap 8.5 on a machine that doesn't have CaseMap already installed on it, please use the registration information we emailed you to activate online. If you do not have your CaseMap registration email handy, please email us at casemap.support@lexisnexis.com to obtain your registration information.
